Gypsy moth circles the world5/30/2023 ![]() There's nothing like starting the planning of a voyage with: a limp (slipped on wet deck skylight damaging his leg), lost architectural drawings, poor plumbing (lavatory backs up into the sink when boat keels), a wife/publicist with a damaged eye (hit when curtain pulling cord swung back), a boat that is too heavy, and an unexpected 50% cost overrun. ![]() In my high school book report blogging tradition, I will attempt to summarize each chapter in a sentence.īased on his extensive aviation and sailing experience, Francis Chichester secretly wanted a voyage around the world faster than any small boat had made before - lincluding circumnavigating The Cape of Good Hope and Cape Horn. Faking Normal by Courtney C. Stevens5/30/2023 ![]() ![]() Faking Normal may be one of the bunch, but it’s one that stands out in its importance in showing one of the worst faces of rape: the one that goes wrongfully blamed, the one with circumstances that make the victim think it’s excusable. They come in all shapes and sizes, giving us tragic stories of broken lives and emotionally crippled victims. Rape books are numerous, at least I’ve read my fair share. ![]() As they lean on each other for support, Alexi gives him the strength to deal with his past, and Bodee helps her find the courage to finally face the truth.Ī searing, poignant book, Faking Normal is the extraordinary debut novel from an exciting new author-Courtney C. When Bodee Lennox, the quiet and awkward boy next door, comes to live with the Littrells, Alexi discovers an unlikely friend in "the Kool-Aid Kid," who has secrets of his own. Ashamed and embarrassed, she hides in her closet and compulsively scratches the back of her neck, trying to make the outside hurt more than the inside does. Published by HarperTeen on February 25th 2014Īn edgy, realistic, and utterly captivating novel from an exciting new voice in teen fiction.Īlexi Littrell hasn't told anyone what happened to her over the summer. ![]() This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. I received this book for free from HarperCollins in exchange for an honest review. Monday, FebruReview: Faking Normal by Courtney C. ![]()

Dance of thieves vow of thieves5/29/2023 ![]() ![]() It kept me reading well into the early hours of the morning and I did drag out the final book as I just did not want it to ever end. Pearson is one of the most underrated writers in the YA/NA fantasy genre which is quite upsetting as I think her books deserve a lot more credit and recognition than what they’ve been getting.ĭance of Thieves and its sequel Vow of Thieves was breathtaking, a suspenseful rollercoaster that made you feel hooked on each page and filled with a myriad of different emotions. ![]() ![]() I picked up Dance of Thieves at the bookstore with my September book haul because someone I used to know recommended it on their instagram and we always had the same taste in books so I decided to check it out.Īll I can say, after finishing the sequel: Vow of Thieves, why in the world did I not discover this series before ? That being said, I think Mary E. I had vaguely heard of The Remnant Chronicles before and remember seeing the covers previously on Goodreads but had never read them. I went into this duology without being familiar with Mary Pearson’s writing. ![]() Spoilers for both Dance of Thieves and some very minor ones for Vow of Thieves! ![]() |
